Chopta lies in the lower Himalayan region, but altitude is noticeable.
Most people acclimatize easily as the altitude is moderate compared to high-altitude treks.

Chopta is located at an altitude of around 2,600–2,900 meters (8,500–9,500 feet).
During the birding months (April–June, September–November), the temperatures typically range between 5°C to 20°C.
Mornings and evenings can be chilly, while daytime is usually pleasant.

We recommend carrying:

Light woolens for spring and post-monsoon trips.

Heavier jackets if traveling in early spring (March–April) or late autumn (October–November).

Layered clothing (inner thermals + t-shirts + fleece/jackets) to stay comfortable across varying temperatures.

A good pair of waterproof shoes, a hat, and light gloves are also advisable for early mornings.

We offer cozy eco-lodges and birding-friendly stays in Chopta.
Expect clean, basic rooms with attached bathrooms, hot water, and hearty meals — right in the lap of nature.

Absolutely! Whether you are a beginner or an experienced photographer, Chopta's forests, trails, and open meadows offer incredible birding opportunities.
Our guides and mentors assist you in spotting and photographing the best species according to your pace and experience level.
